One of the hardest things to accomplish it to tell a short story with a single visual, a long shot that has no cuts. As a still photographer, I did this all the time. But it is much harder to do in motion since we need to be getting new information in the shot all the time.

Here are two wonderful short stories told in a single shot from a young director who is a student at NYU: Josef Kubota Wladyka

“My mother left Japan more than thirty years ago and didn’t return until November 2010. This is her story.”

“Curai is a small, tight knit fishing village on the Southern Pacific Coast of Colombia. It’s a place where almost everyone shares the same last name. Jacobo is a community leader there and this is one of his stories.”
