Bunn: Harlem’s Master Milliner – “Michelle Gross”
His name is Bunn, and he’s bringing millinery back to New York City one custom design at a time. Based in Harlem, NY, Bunn has been making hats for more than three decades and has a loyal client base including notable celebrities like Alicia Keys and Aaron Neville.
I first met Bunn at his shop, Hats By Bunn, on 134th street between 7th and 8th Avenue on a late and rainy March afternoon. Over the course of a few hours, I learned a few tricks to the hat trade and met some of Bunn’s regulars. A New York boy through and through, he is truly a neighborhood staple, inspired the very people and places around him.
