Great video stories have surprise.
I was surprised this morning when I read this WSJ review of the documentary Windfall .
I mean, who isn’t for renewable energy? So watching the trailer was a surprise because it told me something new, something that challenged my expectations.
I was also caught by this sentence in the review by John Anderson: ….
“the best non-fiction cinema possesses the same attributes as good fiction: Strong characters, conflict, story arc, visual style.”
So there’s the recipe for success!
This is also a great example of a story about an issue.
