It’s not a new story that New York’s former governor was brought down over a sex scandal. But Alex Gibney’s documentary about the whole affair, Client-9, The Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer is a great story.
What could have been a forest of dull talking heads is instead a smart, sassy, visual story with great music and great pacing. AND it has great reporting that breaks new ground and offers fresh and surprising information on the case.
So visual journalism should be strong reporting but it doesn’t have to be visually boring.
